Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 25, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Baseline, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use the application.
2. Description of Service
Baseline is a private, family-oriented health check-in application. It allows parents to create accounts for their children, who can then log daily health factors (water intake, electrolytes, caffeine, exercise, sleep, nutrition) and symptom severity ratings. The app provides trend visualization, statistical insights, and optional AI-powered analysis to help identify patterns in health data.
Baseline is intended for family awareness and communication, not for medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency use.
3. Not Medical Advice
This is critical: Baseline is a tracking and pattern identification tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
- The data you log is for personal reference and family communication only.
- Trend insights and statistical correlations are informational and should not be interpreted as medical conclusions.
- AI-generated analysis is provided by a third-party language model and may contain inaccuracies. Every AI response includes a disclaimer stating it is not medical advice.
- Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making any changes to diet, exercise, medication, or treatment plans.
3.1 Not for Emergencies
Baseline is not designed for emergencies. If a child may be experiencing a medical emergency, users should contact emergency services or an appropriate medical provider rather than relying on Baseline.
4. Accounts and Access
4.1 Parent Accounts
- Parent accounts are authenticated via Google OAuth. Access is restricted to a pre-approved email allowlist.
- Parents are responsible for managing their Google account security.
- Parents have full access to all child accounts, health data, and administrative functions.
4.2 Child Accounts
- Child accounts are created and managed by a parent account holder.
- Children log in with a username and password assigned by their parent.
- Children can view and edit only their own daily logs and trends.
- Children cannot access AI analysis features, administrative functions, or other children's data.
4.3 Security Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You must notify the app administrator immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
- Baseline uses reasonable technical safeguards, including HTTPS, bcrypt password hashing, secure cookies in production, and role-based access controls.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Baseline only for its intended purpose:
- Tracking personal or family health data.
- Identifying trends and patterns for personal awareness.
- Sharing data with your own healthcare providers as you see fit.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to access another user's account or data.
- Use the application for any commercial purpose.
- Intentionally submit false or misleading health data.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or disrupt the service.
- Use AI-generated analysis as a substitute for professional medical advice.
6. AI Analysis
The AI analysis feature uses OpenAI's API to generate informational summaries of health trends. By using this feature, you acknowledge:
- AI analysis is limited to 5 generations per child per day.
- A limited data summary (age, gender, diagnoses, and numeric values) is sent to OpenAI for processing. No names, usernames, email addresses, or account identifiers are included.
- OpenAI API data handling is governed by OpenAI's applicable API terms and privacy practices. As of this policy date, OpenAI states that API data is not used to train models by default and may be retained for abuse monitoring unless a different data-retention setting applies.
- AI responses are generated by a machine learning model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading.
- AI analysis does not constitute medical advice and should not be used as a basis for medical decisions.
- Saved AI reports are stored in our database and accessible to parent account holders.
7. Data Ownership
You retain ownership of all health data you enter into Baseline. The data is stored for your personal use and can be exported at any time via the CSV export feature (parent accounts only). Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed.
8. Service Availability
Baseline is provided as-is and may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. The application is hosted on Fly.io and uses auto-scaling which may cause brief delays when the service scales from zero after idle periods.
We strive to maintain availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for any loss of data or inconvenience caused by service interruptions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Baseline shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the application, including but not limited to:
- Any health-related decisions made based on data or analysis in the app.
- Loss of data due to technical failures, however caused.
- Unauthorized access to your account or data.
- Any inaccuracies in AI-generated analysis.
10. HIPAA
Baseline is intended for personal family use and is not operated on behalf of a health plan, health care clearinghouse, or covered health care provider. Baseline is not intended to create, receive, maintain, or transmit protected health information on behalf of a HIPAA covered entity.
11. Termination
The app administrator may suspend or terminate access to Baseline at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these terms. Upon termination, your data may be deleted upon request.
12. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms & Conditions, please contact the app administrator.
